(This is a story from last month that we didn’t get a chance to post until now. I’m so excited to report we are now at 7 Involved New Believers for the year, just 8 more to reach the goal!)
“13 to go.” This was the title of a text that Andrew received from Emily, one of the Cru leaders. It was in reference to the goal we set to trust God for 15 UVA students to come to Christ through Cru. Here is what Emily emailed out to all the leaders about Maggie, a student who decided to rededicate her life to Christ:
“Last night I had dinner with a friend who started coming to Cru large group last semester. She has decided to get more involved and join a small group this year. While we were talking, this is what she had to say about Cru:
Growing up I always felt uncomfortable in my church. I felt like I was judged whenever I was in a big group of Christians because I was a little different from them or because I was vocal about not agreeing with everything. I still felt that way in college. I felt like Christians were judging me and not accepting me at all. Then, I came to Cru. I have never once felt judged at Cru. I felt whole-heartedly accepted into the community even though I am not the most diligent follower of Christ. I felt like people actually wanted to know me and cared about me. I am really excited to get involved in a small group and get to know everyone more this year.
This conversation affirmed and encouraged me so much. I hope it does the same for y’all.”
How awesome is that! So awesome to see leaders like Emily stepping out in faith to connect with students no matter where they are at about Jesus!
